Traveling to the USVI between June 1 – November 30? This page serves as an acknowledgment and acceptance of the risks associated with traveling to the Caribbean during hurricane season.
Understanding the Season
Hurricane season in the Caribbean typically runs from June 1 to November 30. During this period, the region is susceptible to tropical storms and hurricanes, which may cause severe weather conditions including heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, and other adverse effects.
Potential Risks
Traveling to the Caribbean during hurricane season may expose you to various risks, including but not limited to disruption or cancellation of travel plans, damage or loss of property, difficulties accessing emergency services, health and safety hazards due to severe weather, and loss of utilities such as water and power.
Personal Responsibility
Travel Insurance: It is strongly recommended that you obtain comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and other unforeseen events related to weather. Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) insurance is encouraged.
Preparation: You are responsible for staying informed about weather conditions and travel advisories issued by local authorities and your travel provider.
Evacuation & Safety: In the event of a hurricane or severe weather warning, follow all safety instructions from local authorities, your accommodation, or travel provider. Be prepared for potential evacuation procedures and understand that you may need to alter your travel plans.
Accommodation Provider's Limitations
The accommodation provider may have limited ability to offer support or services during severe weather events. This may include potential disruptions in utilities, amenities, and access to the property. The accommodation provider will not be liable for any damages, losses, or inconveniences incurred as a result of weather-related events or other disruptions associated with hurricane season.
Hurricane Addendum
Guests assume all risk for traveling during hurricane season (June 1 – November 30) and are responsible for purchasing travel insurance to cover loss of non-refundable rent. CFAR insurance is encouraged.
If there is a named storm and USVI is within the NHC/NOAA projected path/cone, projected to occur within 5 days prior to the Guest's scheduled arrival day, the Guest may postpone arrival up to 30 days (not including September), pending availability, without penalty — or cancel. No refunds will be issued.
If there is a named storm and USVI is within close proximity (within 200 miles) of the NHC/NOAA projected path/cone upon arrival or during the stay, guests must fully vacate the villa as soon as notified by Antares. This situation will be evaluated case by case. Partial credit will not be issued.
If Antares or the homeowner cannot provide the house for rental — such as a declared state of emergency, restricted island access, or storm damage prior to arrival — and no suitable substitute is available, a full refund, less credit card processing, will be issued.
